SPRING TURN-ON FOR SPRINKLERS

Every spring, your sprinkler system needs to be turned on. Sprinkler Irrigation Service is the most qualified and experienced team of sprinkler experts in the Omaha and Eastern Nebraska area. Give us a call or send us a message to get an estimate! On your start up visit for spring turn-on we go through a multi-point inspection to ensure that your sprinkler system is working correctly and efficiently.

Our team examining sprinkler heads

One of our sprinkler experts will visit your home in the spring and put your system through a complete test. From the controller to the last sprinkler head, they will ensure everything is in top working order and leave your system ready to perform for the season. A residential start-up package includes travel time to your site and inspecting the irrigation system for damaged or broken components. Your system is a complex series of plumbing and electrical parts that require maintenance. The technician will run through your system using a checklist. We re-program the controller, check the rain sensor, adjust sprinkler nozzles, and check for leaks. Once we have identified any problems, we will discuss the issues with you and make the necessary repairs.

Examining the electrical components

We will slowly turn on the main sprinkler valve and gently let water fill in the sprinkler pipe and manifold. Once the system is filled, we visually use testing tools to check:
  • Lateral Pipes: kinetic pressure checks.
  • Sprinkler Heads: rotation, GPM, matched precipitation checks
  • Sprinkler Controller: We will troubleshoot your controller and program your watering schedule. If your controller is more than ten years old, we can update it to a more efficient, modern model.
  • Rain Sensor: We will make sure your rain sensor is working correctly. Rain sensors are sensitive instruments and should be changed every five to ten years.
  • System Wiring: Inspect field wiring between controller and zone valves. The freeze/thaw action of the ground, tree roots, and rodents can damage the irrigation controller wire. At the same time, we will check all wire splices.
  • Backflow Device: Visually examine the backflow device and test. If your backflow device is ten years old or older, consider replacing it.
  • Landscape Coverage: Finally, check the sprinkler system for coverage of your landscape. As landscapes mature, sprinkler heads may need to be moved, added, or shut off. The nozzles in the sprinkler head also may need to be modified.
